There's No Place Like Home
I have journeyed back to my hometown in New England and as soon as I get all the boxes out of my way - I'll be creating once again in my (new) art room.

"Spring Chick" now in my Etsy shop!
This cute little chick is ready for Spring, he’s looking for someone to deliver this special egg to and is now in my Etsy shop. (see link at right "Alycia's Art Etsy Shop" under "Where to Buy My "Original" Handcrafted Artworks" heading)
“Spring Chick” is an original hand sculpted and hand painted papier mache art piece. The polka dot egg shaped body with spiral twisted wire legs stands on a 3” diameter round papier mache box. He has a ruffled collar made of layers of antiqued crepe paper. His wings are attached with a small wire peg and also glued to keep secure. The small papier mache egg he is holding has been glittered to look like sugar crystals. I individually handmade twelve of these little chicks in 2006, and each is signed, dated and numbered. I only have three left, this one is #9 out of 12. Approximately 6” high

UPDATE: Harrey & Harreit Quality Licensed Reproductions
Wednesday, March 12, 2008
From the Art Room
Here's just a sampling of the many original designs I do in papier mache for every season. My mind is constantly whirling with new ideas for characters to create. I love the artistic process of taking my drawings and sketches and bringing them to life in three dimensional form. Well, back to my art room to get elbow deep in some papier mache!

Quality licensed paper pulp reproductions of my Harrey and Harreit papier mache bunnies are now at gift boutiques and specialty shops Nationwide. I'm very excited because my Lil' Harrey and Lil' Harreit have already sold out from ESC. Pictured are the licensed papier pulp reproductions from ESC Trading Company, Inc.

Happy Valentine's Day
A very Happy Valentine's Day to all.
Every year my husband (also an artist) and I make each other Valentine cards, instead of purchasing gifts. I think it makes the day more of what it was intended to be, taking the time to create something that has meaning. A little bit of our heart, in an envelope and sealed with a kiss.

"SOLD! to the highest bidder"
Thursday night's art event held at the Lawndale Art & Performance Center, "Kickin' Cancer Out of Texas" was fun! It was incredible what some people did with an old pair of cowboy boots! I was happy to see my papier mache pair of boots do well in the bidding for the Cancer Counseling, Inc. of Houston.
